In response to the growing number of COVID cases and hospitalizations across California, Gov. Gavin Newsom has ordered that indoor operations must again close statewide for a number of industries, including houses of worship for the county of Los Angeles. In following this state order, the St. Augustine Church building will be closed to the public for Mass and for adoration effective July 14th until further notice. Given the fluidity and uncertainty of the current crisis, we cannot determine the duration of the closure at this time.
HOWEVER, the state and archdiocese is allowing gatherings in open areas and with this in mind, we will be celebrating mass on a limited schedule on our parking lot. Masses will be “drive-in” masses where you will be able to celebrate mass from within your vehicle. We will also have limited bench style seating for those who walk to mass. Please see below for more details. PLEASE CONTINUE TO CHECK THIS WEBSITE FOR THE MOST CURRENT MASS INFORMATION. We thank you for your patience.
WHAT TO EXPECT AT ST. AUGUSTINE DRIVE IN MASS:
Sunday Mass Schedule:
There are no Saturday evening (5pm) or Sunday evening (5pm) masses
Weekday Mass Schedule:
Please follow the directions of the parking ministers at all times.
A temporary altar has been set up in the parking lot near St Augustine School and vehicles will be directed on how to park facing the altar. Mass will be broadcasted over your FM radio. You will be given instructions on which frequency to tune into when you arrive. It is recommended that you arrive 20 minutes before mass begins so that everyone can be parked in time for mass.
For those who are walking to mass, the same protocols of checking for temperature, tracing and social distancing will be enforced.
For those attending in your vehicles, you will be directed to park so that vehicles maintain safe distances from each other.
Please plan on staying for the entire mass as it will be very difficult for vehicles to exit mid-mass.
After mass, please follow the directions of the parking ministers to allow for an orderly and safe exit from the parking lot.
We appreciate your patience and ask for your support as we journey together as disciples during these challenging and unprecedented times.
